What is my child learning in French this Autumn term?

Vanessa Kohashikawa is our French teacher at Telferscot.

Every Friday Vanessa takes a lesson with each class of children. See below to find out what your child will learn about this term.

Reception

Reception pupils will be learning basic greetings such as hello, good-bye and they will also learn how to say their name and ask each other how they are. They will start learning their numbers 1-5 and colours, red, blue and green. Pupils will also learn some songs in French and some verbs to help them understand classroom language in French.

Year 1

Year 1 pupils will be learning the months of the year and numbers 1-60. On-going revision will focus on greetings, the weather, colours, days of the week, numbers and songs. E-learning will be based on the interactive cd-rom  "Goodnight everyone !"

Year 2

Year 2 pupils will be learning how to describe where they live and they will learn the countries that make up the United Kingdom and say their nationality. They will also talk about pets and animals they have or would like to have. Revision will focus on numbers 1-60, the weather, colours, days, months and seasons and the body. E-learning will be based on the interactive talking book, "Hurry up Molly" and the interactive cd-rom "Salut."

 Year 3

Year 3 pupils will be learning about hobbies and activities and how to give more opinions in French. The pupils will also be revising the body, the weather, the alphabet, days of the week and months of the year, numbers 1-60 and how to introduce themselves. E-learning will be based on an the games section of the e-flashcards.  Year 3 pupils will also carry out some research work on France.

Year 4

Year 4 pupils will be learning how to describe where they live, the countries that make up the United Kingdom and the countries near France. The pupils will be revising the weather, the body, colours, numbers 1-60, days of the week and months, hobbies and activities.E-learning for the pupils will be based on the interactive version of Cendrillon and also the Cd-rom of "Salut."

Year 5

Year 5 pupils will be learning about classroom objects and how to say what they have, don’t have and how to ask for things. Year 5 pupils will be revising food, weather, numbers 1-100, colours, days of the week and months of the year, school subjects and opinions. E-learning will be based on the talking big book cd-rom, "What’s for supper?"

Year 6

Year 6 pupils will be learning how to describe their school,how to tell the time and how to give more opinions. Year 6 pupils will be revising numbers 1-100, masculine and feminine colours, clothes, months of the year, days of the week, and places in the town and directions. Year 6 will be working on a short piece of drama based on Cinderella "Cendrillon"
